Geitner Replaces Rowe at Cox Automotive

August 11, 2016 — Cox Automotive announced this week that Brian Geitner will replace Jared Rowe as president of its Media Solutions Group which includes Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and

Although Rowe was not fired (he is leaving for a position outside of automotive) the move is clear indication that integration following last year’s acquisition of Dealertrack is top priority.

Geitner, who takes over on August 15, has been the president of Cox’s Financial Solutions Group since last year. He’s been a rock star for Cox since 2012 when it acquired Dealer Service Corporation and merged it with Manheim Automotive Financial Services creating NextGear Capital in 2013.

As president of the newly formed NextGear, Geitner led the integration of the two companies while also overseeing its rapid expansion internationally. The company, which provides financing and floorplan solutions mainly for independent car dealers, has doubled in size under his leadership while becoming one of Cox’s most profitable divisions.

Geitner is being tasked with integrating — which was moved to Cox’s New Media Solutions Group in June — with Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book.
